Paris Hilton poses for a picture while boyfriend lays injured in the background

On Feb 18, Paris Hilton struck a pose on the snowy slopes of Lake Tahoe while her boyfriend River Viiperi, 21, lay strapped to a stretcher in the background with a serious ski injury.
The couple was in California celebrating Hilton’s 32nd birthday when Viiperi hurt himself three days into the vacation. Fans were able to follow the incident on Hilton’s Twitter account and Pheed blog. She explained in a tweet that Viiperi was trying to do an aerial trick when his ski cut his inner left leg just below the knee.
AnythingHollywood.com reported an insider's account describing how Viiperi got back up to continue skiing but then noticed his entire pants leg was wet.
Hilton appeared to be shaken up by the incident. She tweeted: “After seeing the gash on @RiverViiperi’s leg, I almost passed out. I have never seen a cut that deep in my life.”
What caught the public’s attention even more so than the grisly photos of Viiperi’s unstitched wound was a picture Hilton posted on her Pheed of her seated on the paramedics’ transportation mobile and striking a pouty couture pose. Viiperi is bundled up and strapped to a stretcher in the background, though he is also taking the situation lightly by giving a thumbs-up.
Viiperi later tweeted a special thanks to his girlfriend, expressing his gratitude that Hilton remained by his side throughout the ordeal. His wound required 19 stitches.

A few years ago I bought a Sekonda watch. Being a scatterbrained sort of individual, I lost it, and bought another one, a Lorus. Then I found the Sekonda and began wearing it again. Then I lost it again, a few weeks ago. On Monday when I collected my laundry, the fat lady (who may or may not sing) presented me with the second time lost Sekonda. It had been washed, and I gather dried in one of the hot air dryers before being found, and although the strap has now had its day, the watch was and is not only still working but keeping perfect time.
I can't remember how much I paid for this sturdy instrument but it was certainly less than £20. On the other hand, a Rolex, even a secondhand one, will set you back at least two grand. Now in all probability, a Rolex is even more heroic than a Sekonda. I say probably rather than certainly because I am never likely to own one. Indeed, even if by some inconceivable happenstance I inherited a fortune I would never buy one. Rolex manufacture watches for divers that are certified waterproof at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. If I am ever immersed under 12,000 metres of water - or 2 metres for that matter - I am unlikely to need a watch, but that's another story. Why though would any ordinary person pay 2, 5, or 20 grand plus for a watch, any watch, when he could buy an excellent one for under £20? Okay, so a king might, after all, royalty have to keep up appearances, but for anyone else, buying a Sekonda or similar leaves one more money to spend on the really important things in life. And marvellous piece of craftwork that it is, no one is likely to shoot, stab or beat me to death in a dark alley to rob me of my Sekonda.

Justin Bieber's 19th birthday goes off rails, tweets 'worst' ever

For most Canadians their 19th birthday is the biggie. The culture considers it the coming of age birthday, perhaps largely because you can legally hit the bars at 19. So in London on tour, it's understandable Justin Bieber planned a great bash. Was it?
Nope. In fact when Bieb's big day was all done on Friday, March 1, Bieber tweeted to his fans the unhappy news that it was his "worst birthday" ever. As E! Online discovered, the big party went off the rails quickly and the singer and his entourage left London's Cirque Du Soir, a swanky club, without ever settling in.

The reason appears to be the club would not allow actor/rapper Jaden Smith in. Bieber, manager Scooter Braun and mom Patti Mallette, might have seen it coming as Smith, the son of actor Will Smith and brother of singer Jada Pinkett Smith, is 14, well below the legal age of 18 in the U.K.. Further, singer Ella-Paige Roberts-Clarke, from the U.K., whom Bieber is rumored to be dating, was also along and is but 17.
But Bieber's group failed to plan ahead and rather than continue without Smith and Roberts-Clarke, Bieber decided he and his entire party would leave. The story goes that after the nightclub plans went south they went for food - at McDonalds - then back to the newly-minted 19-year-olds hotel. That's when Bieber, in London and Europe on his 'Believe' tour, tweeted about the less-than-perfect birthday.

For their part, the Cirque Du Soir, a place Bieber has frequented often, told E! Online that "...our hands are tied with local authorities and rules we need to follow as club to keep our license. We clearly didn't want to give him the 'worst birthday.' He is a friend and previously was always welcomed with open arms."
It may be notable that for his last two birthdays, Bieber spent at least parts of the day with his now-former girlfriend, Selena Gomez. The two broke up in December and it's unknown if they even had any contact Friday.
